The men's tracksuit has been on quite the journey. For some, the mention of it will conjure retro sportswear of the ’90s (see Future in Reebok ’fit below), for others, its the ultimate luxury fashion flex (see Elton John in Gucci ’fit, also below). In 2019, this picture has done more than announce a musical alliance – resurrecting our love for this most versatile of looks in all its incarnations.
As athleisure continues to infiltrate the highest tiers of men's fashion, the tracksuit's popularity continues to soar, whether that means relatively affordable "Swoosh"-embellished sportswear, all-over logo embellished Gucci flex, or max-comfort, high-quality lounge clothes.
And while the two-piece set has more commonly been associated with off-duty looks in the past (the late Karl Lagerfeld famously called sweatpants a sign of defeat), the likes of Drake and A$AP Rocky have not shied away from rocking trackies on more formal occasions.
