With a silhouette that looks ready to launch you skyward, the Nike Shox officially bounced onto the sneaker scene almost two decades ago. Its release followed years of trial and error to perfect the shoe's unique mechanical cushioning technology, which was originally dreamed up in 1984.

The sneaker's foam pillars are designed not only to absorb energy but to return it too, originally built with basketball in mind. When the Nike R4, which we now know as the original Shox, was unveiled at the 2000 Olympic games it turned heads with aesthetic awe and technical prowess, and it has done ever since.

Since its arrival, there have been many iterations of the Shox, from changes to the original R4 model and new colorways, to collaborations with some of the world's biggest brands and celebrities, including COMME des GARÇONS and Neymar. To help you introduce some sneaker royalty to your rotation, we've rounded up our 10 favorite Nike Shox.
