The winter to spring shift is a time for rebirth, especially this year. When it comes to the wardrobe, it’s all about having the right tools in place to adapt to changing weather and conditions. Our Spring Style Toolkit is here to help.

I've never been a fan of the big coat. It consumes the rest of an outfit and it's always hard to style things well in winter unless you've got an extensive rotation of duffles, macs, trenches, or mad-expensive shells at the ready. Most of us don't and therefore long for the warmer weather to return and allow us to bring the lightweight spring jackets back out.

As well as giving the winter-retired parts of your wardrobes, like tees, cardigans, and hoodies, more airtime, spring jackets simply tend to be more comfortable. It's a nice feeling not to be weighed down by wool anymore.

With spring's styling opportunities on the mind, I called upon Highsnobiety editors around the world, from Berlin to New York, and asked them what their go-to spring jacket was right now. From all-out technical choices to dad jackets, our selection includes ACRONYM, Phipps, and more.

Scroll on for our editor's picks of the season's best spring jackets.

"Spring jackets are a complicated terrain for me because I love the look, but almost always regret the extra layer once I'm out in the sun. Enter ACRONYM's transformer jacket, with a handily deployable shoulder strap for a no-hands carry. As someone who's also sick of the black-on-black-on-black health goth look, I appreciate the military green colorway with a pop of hunting orange on the hood."

Human Made Work Jacket — Rhianna Matthews, Market Editor

"Obsessed with the material and colors of this piece. Premium workwear has always been a slight fetish of mine and as spring is the perfect time to get a little more playful with your wardrobe, this Human Made graphic trucker is a must-pickup. The light padding makes it work for both the cooler and warmer days with the right layering in place."

Galilee by the Sea Ellington Jacket — Herbert Hofmann, Creative Director

"I'm totally in love with the Ellington Jacket by Galilee by the Sea. It has the perfect touch in terms of material for spring. The boxy shape and design works well with a hoodie or oversized T-Shirt underneath and can be styled up or down."

Goldwin Hooded Over Jacket — Alek Rakestraw, Our Outerwear Expert

"Goldwin, Japan's sportswear titan, has a history of turning out tasteful utility-wear. But this Hooded Over Jacket from their Spring '21 line is one of my favorites they've ever put out. It's got just the right frills to make it something you choose to wear, not grab after checking your weather app. You'll probably never use both arm pockets. Yet, isn't it better for them?"

Phipps Dad Jacket — Louis Almond, Style Editor

"After hearing the choices from the rest of the team, I felt inspired to throw mine into the mix. Short jackets like this one are why spring is my favorite time for dressing. So simple, but so good, and will work with pretty much any color pants you throw at it."
