Editor’s Notes: College, the iconic loafer brand founded in the United States in the ’50s, and London-based Aries have teamed up on a special loafer that draws its inspiration from Italy's Paninaro youth culture of the ’80s.

Paninaro started when the youth of Milan would hang out at the Panino café ("panino" means sandwich in Italian). The groups later met at an Italian fast-food chain at the Piazza San Babila. The movement became synonymous with globalization and consumerism, as young Italians reoriented themselves away from Italy's traditional slow eating culture toward fast food and imported fashions.

Loafers, most commonly associated with American colleges and preppy style, are symbolic of the Transatlantic influence on the old country. And more importantly, they've become a must-have alternative in any sneakerhead's rotation.
