Extra Butter x The North Face Just Dropped a Very Glitchy VHS-Inspired Collection

With barely a days notice, New York City retailer Extra Butter has collaborated with The North Face for a mega colorful Nuptse jacket, a gray fleece option, one knit beanie and a deconstructed pack hat. Dubbed “Technical Difficulties,” the collection’s VHS inspirations are made obvious through the use of white noise tones and saturated color blocking.

Inspired by “the nostalgia of lo-fi TV and VHS aesthetics of the 20th century”, the designs borrow heavily from the SMPTE colorway, a.k.a. the retro colors of The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers.

As well as the collection, the collaboration will also include a pop-up shop which opens tomorrow and runs through until January 10 on 125 Orchard Street in New York’s Lower East Side.

All items are exclusive to the Extra Butter store, so stay tuned for more information about how to cop if you’re not in NYC this winter.
