Fall is upon us and therefore so is new-season style. Fall opens up many doors in terms of styling, but one of the central changes to the wardrobe is footwear. Sandals (without socks) aren’t such a pleasure to wear anymore, but on the flip side, now you can invest in those boots you’ve been eyeing up all year. What’s more, swapping out summer’s sandals for something more substantial means switching up your legwear, too.

The right pants and kicks combination sets a strong precedent for the rest of your look. Every great roof is held up by strong pillars, so don’t finish your fits with anything but the best when it comes to the bottom half. With the help of Mr Porter, the sartorial masters, we’ve rounded up some of the strongest combinations for fall. From bold legwear by Loewe Paula’s Ibiza to classic selvedge denim by L.E.J, and from Common Projects’ premium minimalism to new-age derby shoes by Hender Scheme, we’re very excited about the possibilities this season.

Common Projects and Pop Trading Company

Fall is the season of earth tones and we’re going all-in on that belief. We’re pairing Pop Trading Company’s corduroy cargos with Common Projects’ timeless Achilles Low. The two selections marry perfectly thanks to a grey-green palette which, with the right pair of socks, could be one of the season’s best.

Fear of God and Loewe + Paula's Ibiza

This pair of patchwork denim trousers by Loewe + Paula’s Ibiza exudes nautical, spiritual energy and we’re here for it. The color scheme is out-there, but also toned-down in many ways, which means that this pair works perfectly with the 101 Sneakers from Fear of God. The classic silhouette references canvas skating shoes, but a luxurious suede and unbuckle update in dark blue sets a more elevated tone.

Mr P and L.E.J

Some swear by white denim only for the summer, but we say scrap the self-imposed rules. We’re rocking white denim all year round and we think you should too. L.E.J uses high-quality selvedge denim all the way from Okayama in Japan to make its point and it’s got our attention. A pair of Mr P.’s own Leather-Trimmed Suede Desert Boots rounds out the look.

Hender Scheme and Loewe + Paula's Ibiza

At its core, this duet is an understated pairing: it’s just light-wash jeans and a pair of derby shoes, right? Almost. Our light-wash jeans have been updated by Loewe + Paula’s Ibiza with a strong bohemian patchwork motif which gives the classic pair new life. As for the derby shoes, Hender Scheme has — as we’ve come to expect — reinvented the style, but instead of high-quality tan leather, this pair sees the addition of an industrial buckle fastening, chunky sole unit, and one of the season’s best leather color palettes.
