Ryan Reynolds received a standing ovation for the Free Guy trailer which debuted at the Comic-Con Experience in São Paulo yesterday. Watch the hilariously violent trailer above.

The action-comedy stars Reynolds as a bank teller who finds out he is a background character in a soon to be deleted open world video game. The plot follows Reynolds, as well as Stranger Things' Joe Keery, Killing Eve's Jodie Comer, and the hilarious Taika Waititi as they navigate Free City.

As well as a positive response to the trailer form audiences, the film is getting serious kudos from the star himself. “Free Guy is my favorite movie I've ever made, and that means a lot to me because I made Deadpool," said Reynolds.

The Deadpool actor told the crowd, “We really wanted to bring to the world a modern day Back to the Future for modern generations.” According to the Hollywood Reporter, Reynolds cited Will Ferrell's character in Elf and Petter Sellers in Being There as points of reference for his videogame character.
