Jay Z Announces New Album '4:44'
So all those mysterious "4:44" billboards, posters and trailers now have an official meaning; there's a new Jay Z project coming at the end of the month. At midnight on Monday, TIDAL dropped the news that 4:44 is indeed the name of Jay Z’s next album, and it will be available exclusively on the service June 30. Check out the announcement below.
The accompanying trailer, entitled "Adnis," features some black-and-white footage of Moonlight actor Mahershala Ali boxing a punching bag while Danny Glover, who plays a trainer, holds it. The trailer is soundtracked by some new Jay Z music, which features a down-tempo, piano-led instrumental and some new Jigga bars, which have a pertinent connection to Father’s Day.
“Letter to my dad that I never wrote/ Speeches I prepared that I never spoke/ Words on a paper that I never read/ Prose is never pen, they stayed in my head.”
