The love story between YOOX and JW Anderson started in 2011 when JW Anderson was selected as a participant in YOOX and Vogue Italia’s ‘The Next Talents’ showcase. Since then the label has become a name beyond those in the know, a name which often comes to mind when asked to mention Britain’s top brands.
On the collection Jonathan Anderson says,
“It’s so important for me working in fashion, and in my life in general, to stay curious. Curiosity is how we stay relevant and interesting and I think by working on collaborations you’re exposed to different ways of doing things, of designing clothes or different ways of seeing things. The capsule for YOOX was about creating something special for both brands at the right time for YOOX and their anniversary.”
YOOX and JW Anderson have come up with more than just a capsule collection; it is a time capsule that catapults the wearer back to a romantic age of poets and painters whilst keeping them grounded in 2020 with a subtle dose of forward-thinking modernity and fluidity.
The JW Anderson x YOOX capsule collection exudes elegance and romanticism with a soft color palette gliding across genderless asymmetrical forms, pleated skirts, shirts and dresses. Plaids, checks and stripes filter through giving subtle nods to previous JW Anderson collections and bring the capsule into the wistfulness of the British countryside. Felt loafer mules dance over post-sneaker world fields of green while the signature bag rounds off the beauty of these looks in all the classic finery you would expect from the brand. The corduroy trench stands out and liberates this outerwear staple from its stiff military heritage into a piece that elevates any venture outdoors to a voyage into the paintings and poems of the Romantic era.
