Kanye West has cleared Chicago mayoral candidate Amara Enyia's campaign debts, The Chicago Sun-Times reports. The G.O.O.D. Music mogul contributed $73,540 to her campaign, which has wiped out what she owes to the Illinois State board of Elections and allows her to focus efforts on the election ballot.

In a statement to the Sun-Times, representatives said that "Amara’s campaign is energizing people around the city with bold ideas and solutions that move Chicago forward." It's for that reason her team believe that they are engaging "people of all walks of life as we focus our efforts on getting on the ballot.”

However, West's contribution is not free from political associations. As County Commissioner Stanley Moore queried, “If you accept money from a person like Kanye West, are you also endorsing his stance on Donald Trump?”

West's move comes one week after Enyia was endorsed by Chance, the Rapper, who also donated a sizable sum to her campaign.
