The coronavirus pandemic has turned the world on its head, robbing us of normal things like going to birthday parties on private islands. Lucky for Kim Kardashian, for her 40th she could “pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time.” Well, fans aren't as impressed with her humble birthday bash.

The reality TV superstar took to Twitter to share the details of her birthday celebration at an undisclosed private island. Alongside photos of the event, she wrote, “After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time.

“We danced, rode bikes, swam near whales, kayaked, watched a movie on the beach and so much more. I realize that for most people, this is something that is so far out of reach right now, so in moments like these, I am humbly reminded of how privileged my life is.”

Understandably, people were not too impressed by the beauty mogul's "humble reminder" of her privileged life. With many taking issue with how tone-deaf the post was in the midst of a global pandemic.

We're sure Kardashian didn't mean any harm with her post, for someone reportedly worth $780 million, safely going to a private island with her inner circle for a surprise birthday celebration during a pandemic isn't a stretch. Alas, the internet managed to brew another shitstorm and, of course, memes ensued.

Many fans made light of the situation, taking to Twitter to hilariously share their photographs of their own, more menacing "private islands." Check out some of the best memes below.
