Highsnobiety

In the lead-up to the release of his album Lil Boat 3, long before he ever took the wock to Poland, Lil Yachty told us in an interview that: "any time I’m bored, I start online shopping, I get a package literally every day."

Now, over two years later, that accumulation of packages caused by mindless scrolling on Grailed is really starting to pay off as the rapper is finally getting his flowers as one of the best dressed around.

If we're being honest, it's nothing to be surprised about. Since he first broke out with his bright red hair and catchy autotuned lyrics, he's had style credentials. Back then, at the age of only 19, he was hired to be a Nautica creative designer, a brand that he wore religiously during those early days, and more recently he was a leading voice in breaking the stigma around men's nail varnish through his label Crete — which he has since left.

And yet, Lil Boat is still, in my opinion, not spoken about highly enough in the world of celebrity style.

You only have to scroll through the highly curated Instagram of Hidden.ny (which some followers believe Yachty is the admin of) or watch any of his recent music videos to know that his 'fit game is top tier. It's a gem that has been hidden in plain sight.

All Eyes on The Chanel

An all-black outfit using oversized proportions is always a recipe for a winning look but when you can accessorize it with a Chanel Spring/Summer 2015 "On the Pavements" bag, which currently fetches around $8k to $13k on the secondary market, you've taken things to another level.

Bigger is Always Better

Liking your clothes to fit oversized is one thing, but this outfit is another. Wearing one of the massive collegiate knits from Raf Simons' FW16 collection, he matches the big proportions with a pair of baggy jeans that even rival Justin Bieber's biggest pair.

Enrolled Into Art School

The jury is out on whether Yachty stole this coat from an art school student or spent thousands on it from Balenciaga but, either way, he's nailed the "art school dropout" vibe. Only wearing a tank top under a long coat might be unconventional, but it goes together surprisingly well.

The Urban Explorer

Cargo pants, Realtree camo, a bucket hat... this outfit has all the makings of a hiking dad's uniform for the trails. Yachty adds a spin to the gorp-y theme though by rocking socks and sandals on foot.

Vintage Yachty

A throwback to the NY-influenced, preppy style that he first entered the game with, which included lots of vintage Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, and Nautica sailing gear, early fans will be used to seeing Lil Boat in this style of colorful windbreaker and polo shirt. Spotted out and about in New York, the vintage clothing combined with a pair of Timberland 6 Inch Boots make for a classic look that wouldn't look too out of place on a 90s hip-hop artist — it's just missing a Yankees cap.

Gorp to The Core

Once you enter the world of gorpcore and start rocking hiking gear, the relative impracticality of normal clothes can make wearing them a chore. So who can blame Yachy for rocking up to the Toronto International Film Festival looking like he's about to complete a 10-mile trek through the mountains?
