Independence Day director Roland Emmerich tackles the Battle of Midway — a pivotal turning point in the Pacific Theater during World War II — in his new period piece, simply titled Midway. Based on actual events which occurred roughly six months after Japan's surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, the film shines a light on the heroic feat and the soldiers who fought bravely to prevent the United States from falling victim to another catastrophic setback.

Emmerich works with a star-studded cast in Midway, as Ed Skrein, Patrick Wilson, Luke Evans, Aaron Eckhart, Mandy Moore, Dennis Quaid, and Woody Harrelson star alongside Nick Jonas, Etsushi Toyokawa, Tadanobu Asano, Luke Kleintank, Jun Kunimura, Darren Criss, Keean Johnson, and Alexander Ludwig.

As the Americans are on a mission to prove the US navy is a force to be reckoned with, press play above for your first look at the action-packed Midway, which is due out in theaters November 8.
