Miu Miu can do no wrong, and after the brand’s FW26 presentation showcased a new chapter of footwear (inspired by an old one), it feels only right that New Balance just dropped a Miu Miu-coded sneaker in time for spring.

The New Balance 204L Cortado combines multiple disparate influences that result in an incredibly easy-to-wear silhouette. Top tip: you can add an extra pair of laces if you really want that Miu Miu energy.

Taking inspiration from lightweight running styles of the ‘70s, the New Balance 204L ups the tech levels with a layered upper while retaining the slim sole unit.

Altogether, the effect is a shoe that feels oddly 2000s as well as aligning squarely with contemporary trends. And the latest colorway only emphasizes the design’s timeless versatility.

As if this silhouette needed any more reason to be New Balance’s next major hit, it’s Rosalia’s chosen silhouette, too, opting for a frilly, whimsical take on the style.

In the Cortado colorway, though, the shoe looks better than ever. Light neutral brown uppers offer a subtle textural push with hairy suede while an off-white midsole and grey outsole lighten the palette.

Our favorite touch comes in the form of the baby pink heel tab. An unexpected and barely noticeable twist that makes an outsized difference in the overall feel of the shoe.
