Key Features: This model sees Nike mix and match design details from different existing silhouettes. The shoe takes on the overall shape of the Air Max 720 but also includes features taken from last year’s React cushioning technology. The result is a very busy look that is sure to stand out on foot, but might not be to everyone’s tastes.

Price: $210 / €210

Buy: Sneakersnstuff (White & Black)

Editor’s Notes: Nike’s ISPA line, which stands for “Improvise, Scavenge, Protect, Adapt,” has seen the Swoosh transform some of its most popular silhouettes, giving them a more utilitarian design. The latest model to undergo said changes is the Nike Air Max 720, which sees its upper transformed to feature an asymmetrical tongue and mesh/synthetic construction. The nodes along the midsole and heel have been taken from the React line of footwear, and gives this release a distinctly spacey feel.

The Nike Air Max 720 ISPA is an eye-catching design that is likely to split opinion due to its futuristic, almost over-the-top aesthetic. Sneakers such as the Balenciaga Track or Margiela Fusion have shown that consumers are willing to shell out for something jaw-droppingly different, so it’s not hard to see why Nike went this route with the Air Max 720 ISPA.

Look for it to drop at select retailers such as Sneakersnstuff on September 7.
