Editor's Notes:  Undoubtedly one of the most legendary silhouettes in Nike's expansive archive, the Air Max 90 has not only stood the test of time but has been at the center of counter culture movements in cities across the world.

As the name suggests, the AM90 is an icon of the 90s, and its streamlined, paneled design is unmistakeably retro. Regarded as a milestone in the Swoosh saga, the silhouette marks the third iteration of "Air" and a stepping stone towards Nike's global cultural relevance.

Originally designed as a performance running sneaker, the Air Max 90 has developed into a streetwear staple over the years.

While somewhat fading from the limelight due to the prominence of other mainstays like the Air Force 1 and Dunk Low, the 90 has received consistently slick updates and retained an ever-presence thanks for the likes of Off-White and The Basement.

The latest addition to the sneaker's long line of colorways is this upcoming "Slate" iteration. So named thanks to its grey suede and mesh upper, the shoe features subtle pops of color through touches of blue at the tongue, Air unit, and medial branding. Finishing touches to the utilitarian color-blocking arrives in black at the Swoosh and sole.

With new Air Max 90s such as that of the "Go The Extra Smile" pack, it looks like a steady stream of new colorways is en route – and who could complain?
