Editor's Notes: If we can take anything from the rise of outdoor brands within the streetwear space, it's that utility and function are desirable traits. When it comes to footwear, nothing quite says function like a speed lacing system.

Functional lacing systems that utilize cord locks and stretch elastic laces are nothing new. For fans of Salomon footwear like the XT-6, they won't only be familiar but are the standard.

The Air Max 95 isn't renowned for utilitarian-inspired features, but this upcoming colorway sees Nike try something new and pushing the limits of the silhouette's traditional build. Everything that makes the AM95 so desirable remains at the core – the original lacing system sits below the hike-inspired additions, highlighted with a heavy contrast of black and orange.

As far as seasonal colorways go, the Swoosh hits the nail on the head by combining a khaki suede base with black tooling.

Could this be the beginning of a new direction for the Air Max 95? Only time will tell.
