Nike's Effortless Barn Coat? Swoosh Workwear Does It Again
Unless you've been living under a rock, you may have seen a barn jacket or several in the past few weeks.
The classic workwear piece has existed for centuries. Lately, however, the barn jacket has become this trendy must-have, thanks to young Tiktokers getting their hands on it.
Nike's now got a Swoosh barn jacket for Gen-Zers to add to their closets.
Nike just released the Flannel-Lined Barn Coat, the brand's take on the barn jacket style which is now available on the Highsnobiety Shop. The piece goes for the timeless outwear look, using a cozy flannel lining and a contrasting corduroy collar.
Like the Barbour and Carhartt jackets that lead the craze, Nike's barn coat is constructed of durable canvas. The Nike garment also includes other traditional details like button fastening and large front pockets (Nike's slanted pockets bring an extra stylish flair to its jacket).
Many brands, from Old Navy to Louis Vuitton, have released their own barn jackets this year. Nike is also quite tapped into not only the barn jacket trend but the workwear phenomenon as a whole.
The Nike Life line is centered around creating lifestyle pieces with a strong focus on workwear. Since its inception, Nike's collection has produced styles like chore coats, carpenter pants, and work vests.
Could Nike dethrone Carhartt? Eh. But the brand is undoubtedly gunning for the workwear crown and giving some of these brands a run for their money.
