Nike's next Cryoshot sneaker is a chromed-out throwback.

The newest sneakers draw inspiration from the original Mercurial Vapor 1 "Chrome" cleats, worn by Ronaldo when he led Brazil to its fifth World Cup title in 2002.

Nike's Cryoshot goes for the whole chrome shabang, borrowing even the shiny wavy-patterned uppers and lime green streaks. It also keeps the cleated bottoms, which are sealed behind a see-through sole unit. It's almost like watching history from a museum display case, on your feet.

That pretty much sums up the Cryoshot. Even the model's fashion collaborations have maintained a soccer-ish appeal but on a more casual scale. Meanwhile, with the general release efforts, Nike typically takes its most iconic cleats and immortalizes them as street-savvy sneakers. Some examples include the Cryoshot Mercurial Vapor R9 and Tiempo 94.

Now it's the Mercurial Chrome's turn. Funny enough, the OG gleaming cleats returned in 2024, co-signed by soccer star Vini Jr. Fast forward to 2026, they're back again, but this time as sleek sneakers.
