Los Angeles City Council will rename an intersection in South LA in memory of Nipsey Hussle, who passed away aged 33 last week.

Council member Marqueece Harris-Dawson announced the decision and stated that the intersection between Crenshaw Boulevard and West Slauson Avenue will now be known as Ermias "Nipsey Hussle" Asghedom Square. The move comes after almost half a million people signed a Change.org petition to honor Hussle, calling him a community icon.

Tomorrow, April 11, a “Nipsey Hussle’s Celebration of Life" memorial service will also be held in honor of the late rapper. Entrance is strictly through complimentary tickets, which are available for local residents to download from 10 a.m. PST today. Find more information here.

A 29-year-old suspect called Eric Holder is currently being held in custody with a $5 million bond for fatally shooting Hussle outside his Marathon Clothing store in LA last week. He is facing one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and one count of firearm possession by a felon.
