Double Tap to Zoom

The 2024 Paris Olympics are imminent, and with barely a day to go until their grand opening ceremony, we wanted to have a brief browse of some of the participating athletes' recent standout-style moments.

After reporting on Stephane Ashpool being Team France's designer of choice, Team Mongolia's exquisite uniforms, and the general history of the event's relationship with fashion, we picked but a few examples of when some of this year's most promising talents proved themselves prodigies of not just their discipline, but a good taste in clothes.

A Look at 2024's Fashionable Olympians: Style for Gold

Jagger Eaton

Skateboarding debuted as an Olympic sport at the 2020 games in Tokyo – where a then-19 year old Jagger Eaton won Bronze for the men's Street competition. Four years later, Eaton's ready to defend, if not outperform, his title.

At a May qualifiers tournament, the Arizona-native wore a light t-shirt and dark jean combo – a top-to-toe wider-growing silhouette, just how we like it. For something of an eye-catcher, Eaton opted for a studded belt. Not only do the latter's numerous reoccurrences suggest it to be his favorite accessory, it also makes for a simple, successful way to elevate and personalize an otherwise banal outfit.

Coco Gauff

At 20 years old, Coco Gauff is the first tennis playing and youngest flag bearer in Team USA's history, at what will be her first Olympics. With a preference for casual, slightly nostalgic attire, she appears to be picking from a closet of nonchalant evergreens.

Papped leaving a restaurant earlier this year, Coco wore a graphic T, a playful denim purse, and single-handedly revived the long-lost ripped jean. Game, Set, Match.

Tyrese Haliburton

Outside of his looming duties on Team USA, basketball pro Tyrese Haliburton plays for the Indiana Pacers. The 24 year old point guard has shown charisma and confidence on and off court – shooting hoops, or raking up points for his chef's kiss outfits.

At the NBA Playoff finals, he wore a color-coordinated yellow cardigan, generously pleated trousers, and chonky, boat shoe-inspired boots. Dress for the job medal you want, I guess.

Sasha Zhoya

Born and raised in Australia, to French-Zimbabwean parents, Sasha Zhoya will be running for host country France's team in the track and field division. The 22-year old is no novice to the world of luxury apparel, having already snagged an ambassador deal with Dior.

His looks are best described as a playful remix of menswear favorites. Above, he pulled off a suit atop a soccer – sorry, football – jersey. Ideas like it can go both ways – but if done right? Onto that best dressed podium you go!

Breanna Stewart

Breanna Stewart is the recipient of not one, but two Olympic gold medals for women's basketball – and needless to say, she's hoping to score a third. If her efforts in Paris are even half of what we've been getting from her out-of-game wardrobe, we're not all that worried for her though.

Not unlike Monsieur Zhoya above, Breanna paired – or rather, juxtaposed – pieces you might not have thought'd go together well. But the biker jacket, track pants, and pointy boots are, indeed, a sartorial slam dunk. This winner really does take it all.
