Highsnobiety
Double Tap to Zoom

Disney has been very generous lately, steadily revealing tidbits about anticipated series and movies at this week's D23 Expo. On Saturday, Star Wars fans finally got what they've been waiting for. During a panel with director J.J. Abrams and the cast, Lucasfilm gave us a first glimpse of the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker poster.

The minimalistic but eye-catching poster plays into one of the core conflicts of the sequel trilogy: Rey versus Kylo Ren. The two battle it out against a galactic backdrop, representing the two sides of the Force, the present and the future.

Another striking element is the sinister Emperor Palpatine looming over them. Not only does this mean the now-iconic villain will return in the saga's finale, but this will surely make for great theory fodder over the next few months.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker comes to theaters on December 20.
