There have been several rumblings over the past year or so, that Nike is readying the re-release of a number of Penny Hardaway signature sneakers. Initially, it was rumored that the Nike Air Penny 3 would return. That was followed by rumors of a Nike Air Max Penny 1 retro. Now, sources tell Complex that Stüssy will be collaborating on the Nike Air Penny 2 in 2022.

There are currently no leaked images, nor are there mockups as to how Stüssy’s version could look like. Still, the rumored release is interesting due to the fact that it would represent a step away from Stüssy’s regular Nike collaborations. The partnership, which began in 2000 on the Air Huarache and many consider the first proper collab, has focused more on retro running silhouettes such as the Air Max line, as well as OG basketball silhouettes, such as the Blazer or the Dunk.

The Nike Air Penny was originally released in 1996 and has been retroed several times since then. According to Complex’s sources, the sneaker is set for a September 2022 release, though that is subject to change, especially considering the supply chain problems Covid has been causing over the past few months.
