Editor’s Notes: Telfar has revealed the first item from its forthcoming collaboration with UGG. The iconic Telfar shopping bag is rendered in a chestnut suede and creamy shearling trim in a style evocative of the sheepskin boot. The cozy UGG boot was an early 2000s phenomenon and helped to defined the era of early ’00s style along with Juicy Couture tracksuits, low-rise denim, newsboy hats, and Von Dutch caps.
The Telfar x UGG bag – available in small ($192) and medium ($290) sizes – is the first piece to drop from the collaboration, although apparel and accessories are also expected further down the line.
As per the brand's MO, this collab is not about exclusivity, but about democratization, as Telfar Clemens said to us back in September when the partnership was first announced, "I think the whole idea of 'elevating’ things is dusty," he says. "Elevating to where? We were trying to just find what is most UGG and what is most TELFAR and combine them. So that it feels like it’s been around forever and should stick around forever."
In accordance with Telfar's Bag Security Program, the pre-order allows you to guarantee a bag is on the way, even if it means you have to wait a while. If you order today, you'll receive a Telfar Christmas card, starring Telfar Clemens as Santa in an UGG colorway with a golden retriever pup, as a proxy. There are also digital cards available in the event of a postal delay. Just ensure you're putting down your permanent address for delivery between March - June 2021, as address changes cannot be accommodated.
