Nike’s Red-Hot Air Force 1 Is Wearable Hip-Hop History
It's wild to think the Terror Squad x Nike Air Force 1s were among the rarest sneakers in the world at one point. Now, Fat Joe and Nike are making grail dreams come true with wider releases.
They already blessed the streets with two drops back in 2023. Now, they've returned to release the red Terror Squad x Nike Air Force 1 sneakers.
Expect the usual AF1 details, this time dressed in red and white leather and, of course, those unmistakable Terror Squad stamps. There's an embroidered "TS" on the heel, referencing the hip-hop group founded by Fat Joe in the late 1990s. Meanwhile, "JC" strikes the heel tab, calling back to Fat Joe's nickname, Joey Crack.
The first wave of Terror Squad Air Forces came out in the early 2000s, but they were limited to Fat Joe and his crew. Essentially, they were mega-exclusive "Friends and Family" shoes that fetched thousands on resale sites and even famous auctions over the years.
Fat Joe is a well-documented sneakerhead, known not only for possessing an insane collection but also for licking the soles of brand-new sneakers on camera. He's flexed just about every new hot release, ranging from Nigel Sylvester's Air Jordan 4s to Kith's Air Max 95s to, naturally, his very own Air Forces, which he calls "the greatest story never told."
See, the Terror Squad Forces aren't just wearable sneaker history but a hip-hop legacy you can lace up in. The brands are making the once-rare sneakers available to everyone now. Well, those who can successfully cop them, that is.
Again, a couple of years ago, Nike and Fat released two Terror Squad x Air Force 1s, which sold out. We're expecting the same outcome for the red-hot pairs.
Mark your calendars and set your alarms. The red Terror Squad x Nike Air Force 1 sneakers are slated to finally release on September 9 on Nike's website, retailing for $150.
