British menswear establishment Sunspel has been perfecting the craft of luxurious everyday essentials for over 150 years – since 1860, to be precise. Now the brand has unveiled its very first foray into denim, with a made-in-England jean that's been crafted from a premium 14oz Japanese selvedge.
The Japanese fabric has been rope-dyed, for an even depth of color that promises to develop its own unique, beautiful patina over time. The denim has been subsequently cold-rinsed to give the jeans a soft worn-in feel, making them easier to wear and so there's no need to worry about thigh-strangling shrinkage as soon as they get wet.
The jeans themselves are cut to a timeless silhouette – that means a straight leg and mid-to-high rise – and finished with custom Sunspel hardware, low-key branding on the back pockets and some discreet patterns from Sunspel's archive printed on the inside of the pocket bags.
Sunspel's selvedge jeans are available now, and we suggest pairing them with one of the brand's trademark Made-in-England T-shirts and low top Shoes Like Pottery canvas sneakers, for the height of timeless chic.
