Many of you will remember the digital pictures frames that came up many years ago. It felt like a new age at the time, nevertheless nobody really wanted them at home and if we look around ourselves now, probably more than 10 years later, you still do not really see them much at people's homes. Much like that one also envisioned art to be hanging on the wall in the future in the form of digital frames that could display an endless array of artists and exhibitions, changing daily, weekly or monthly. In recent years that vision much like the digital picture frame, has moved out of one's sight again. But maybe the problem was not so much the technical capability, but rather the right team providing the service?
ACNE presents its new Curater product. The basic idea of the service is to stream curated art exhibitions from the world's best artists and curators right into your home. The digital exhibition system is working with leading art institutions and curators in order to display 6-8 exhibitions per year. Curater is a closed subscription-based system, by invitation only. Through the brand's own high definition, ultra-thin LED canvas, users can experience new art exhibitions in their own homes, streamed directly onto the LED screens. At launch only 500 of these screens will be distributed and for a minimal monthly fee, you will be able to enjoy changing art exhibitions right in your home. The digitalization of art is happening rapidly, yet with the market being rather traditional, we will have to see if something like Curater can actually be taken serious and can succeed.
