adidas' Seriously Chunky Dad Sneaker Is An Answer to the Flat Sole Epidemic
adidas is back in its chunky sneaker bag, this time reviving the Adistar XLG 2 in a gray and metallic finish.
The early-2000s runner is as unapologetically retro as they come, trusted mesh, synthetic overlays, and that padded collar now amplified in a tonal, monochromatic palette.
The Adistar XLG 2 is all about that oversized, sculpted sole unit, you know, the type we couldn’t go without back in the late 2010s, and layered upper, with metallic silver details bringing just enough shine to the muted “Grey Four” base.
It’s a colorway that does the most without actually doing too much, the ideal addition for anyone who wants to flex a little nostalgia without going full TBT.
And while the silhouette leans heavy into the archives, adidas keeps things wearable with comfort-focused touches: plush midsole, classic Trefoil hits, and just enough futuristic energy to keep up with anything in your slimmed down modern day rotation.
Previously made in all-black, this particular silhouette almost resembles Pharrell Williams’s adidas cross-over “Jellyfish” minus the overly bold orange accents and hefty price tag, of course.
Due to be released March 14, the Adistar XLG 2 is proof that there’s more to life than a Spezial. Contrary to Harry Styles' recent outing.
