Hate 'em or love 'em, foam sneakers are here to stay, with adidas set to expand its offering with a previously unseen silhouette.

When did foam season truly begin? Was it when Crocs crept into the mainstream and became the go-to piece of fashion footwear via Kanye and Balenciaga? Or maybe when we went full Gorpcore and adopted Merrell’s Hydro Mocs?

Whichever way you choose to chronicle the timeline, foam sneakers have asserted their dominance on the industry in an instant – and there’s more to come yet.

Industry leaders in the field, adidas, are seemingly working on a new foam silhouette that largely maintains the framework of the wildly successful Yeezy Foam Runner.

While the leaked images of this upcoming silhouette don’t give away much in the way of technical details, its streamlined construction doesn’t feel too dissimilar to sneakers within the ZX Flux family.

The heel and midfoot have been carved out to give off a stacked appearance that triggers long locked-away memories of secondary school Geography lessons. Hello again, sedimentary rocks.

As has become the standard for foam sneakers, this as of yet unnamed pair has cutout portions across the upper which some Twitter users have been comparing to the Pokémon Cubone.

What separates these from previous entries in the growing adidas foam family is the addition of a traditional outsole, giving these more performance capabilities than other clogs.

For all the cozy fans out there, we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
