The adidas Samba has seen a lot over the years. A grayscale snake print, though? Now that's new.

Animal print sneakers have been having a serious moment. From leopard to snakeskin, brands across the board have been going wild, and the trend shows no signs of slowing down. adidas itself has already reimagined several of its most coveted silhouettes in animal prints, and now the Samba is getting the same treatment.

adidas is letting the Samba loose this season, draping the entire upper in a glossy grey snake pattern that somehow manages to feel luxurious rather than loud.

The Three Stripes and heel tab arrive in a darker shade of snake print, creating a subtle depth against the lighter base, single-tone, but far from boring. The T-toe keeps things grounded in calm grey nubuck, while light gray layering on the underlay adds a quiet gradation of textures that rewards a closer look. The low-profile sole unit ties the whole thing together in usual adidas style, of course.

The smartest thing about this Samba is what adidas didn't do. By committing to a strict grayscale palette, the animal print loses its edge and gains something better: sophistication.

It's a Samba that'll turn heads without trying, which is very on brand for a shoe that's never needed to roar.
