Even With Laces, adidas’ Taekwondo Slipper Is Good as Gold
Ronaldinho Gaúcho was about touch, the almost mythical ability to put the ball exactly where it needed to be, again and again, until repetition felt magical.
That instinct now shows up off the pitch through the Ronaldinho x Nike Tiempo Legend “Touch of Gold,” a football relic translated into a sneaker.
At first glance, the shoe makes its intentions clear. White quilted leather defines the upper, clean and classic, paired with a metallic gold Swoosh that nods directly to Ronaldinho’s nickname.
A large fold-over tongue is stamped with his number and initials alongside gold detailing that references his legacy.
The foundation matters here. The Nike Tiempo shoe was a grail for football fans in the early 2000s, worn by footballer icons like Andrea Pirlo, Paolo Maldini, Francesco Totti, and Cesc Fàbregas.
For many, though, the boot is inseparable from Ronaldinho himself and the ads that made his accuracy feel unreal, clipping crossbars until precision turned into spectacle.
Available on Nike’s website on December 10 for $230, Nike captured that mythology in 2021 with a Tiempo Legend V sneaker limited to 3,000 pairs. It disappeared quickly and became a collector’s object.
This version keeps the same visual language but swaps studs for a flat indoor sole borrowed from Nike’s revived GATO, shifting the Tiempo’s identity from pitch-specific to something more versatile without rewriting its history.
