Launched in 2008 by couple Christine and Niclas Lydeen, Swedish perfumery "AGONIST" joins a growing list of unisex scent-makers creating contemporary products without all the clichéd perfume promotion. Christine's career in fashion and Niclas's background in art direction set the perfect foundation for their new venture; the central goal to create 100% natural products inspired by Swedish culture in all its forms. Setting aside stereotypical notions of Nordic minimalism, the duo lean towards a darker, more melancholic side of their homeland's heritage, reflected in both their scents and the accompanying imagery.

"With a distinct focus on details, artistic expression and raw material" the Lydeens conjure up a selection which should offer something for everyone. A woody "White Oud" carries notes of Patchouli, Tonka Beans, White Musk Accord and Amber while the sweeter layers of "Vanilla Marble" include Persian Almond, White Fig and Madagascar Vanilla. With 10 scents to choose from, the brand has worked its way into a number of fancy retailers including Selfridges, Neiman Marcus and Liberty. Find your new scent at the "AGONIST" website.
