Let's be real. Air Jordan 2 had a great year, having enjoyed spins by several noteworthy collaborators. Going out with a bang, the model closes out its year with the return of the OG "Chicago" colorway.

Originally rumored to release in October, the 2022 Air Jordan 2 "Chicago" sneakers are now slated to drop on December 30, right before we ring in the new year.

Like the reimagined Chicago 1s, the Jordan Brand also crafted the AJ2s in the image of the original pairs — down to the reptilian texture, Swoosh-free upper, and understated silhouette.

Even the hues strike the same spots as seen on the OG Air Jordan 2s worn by Michael Jordan during his prime with the Bulls — the Chicago NBA team that inspired the beloved scheme.

The latest sneakers are nearly reminiscent of the 1986 kicks, save the age gap and the $200 price tag (the OGs were $100, which was actually considered pricey during the 1980s). Nonetheless, the forthcoming Chicago 2s undoubtedly ooze OG flair.

The Air Jordan 2 had quite a renaissance this year, thanks to names like Nina Chanel Abney and A Ma Maniére, who turned the dynamic kicks into works of wearable art.

The Air Jordan 2s also received vintage and icy treatments, courtesy of Maison Chateau Rouge and Uniion LA, respectively. Meanwhile, J. Balvin literally turned the spotlight on the underrated Jordan model.

It's safe to say the Jordan 2 agenda has been in full effect. And it looks like 2023 may also be a lucky year — a "Lucky Green" one, at that — for the Jordan silhouette.
