KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has become the foremost source for Apple news and speculation over the years. Most recently, in a note distributed to clients and reported on by Business Insider, his team has predicted that Apple will release three new iPhone models in 2018.
As previously reported, industry insiders strongly believe that an iPhone X Plus could be on the way. That rumor falls in line with what Kuo and his research team, who are well-known for accurately predicting details about upcoming Apple products thanks to the analyst’s connections in the Asian manufacturing industry, predict for Apple’s 2018 lineup.
“We predict Apple (U.S.) will launch three new iPhone models in 2H18: 6.5-inch and 5.8-inch OLED models and a 6.1-inch TFT-LCD model, all equipped with a full-screen design and TrueDepth Camera (front 3D sensing), as with iPhone X," Kuo wrote in his most recent note.
Two of the iPhone models will apparently be targeted at the “high-end market,” as Kuo predicts. A third model will reportedly be aimed at middle and low-end markets. The price tag for the cheaper iPhone is predicted to fall between $649 and $749.
The alleged iPhone X Plus and an updated iPhone X are expected to feature edge-to-edge screens and facial-recognition technology, while the rumored third iPhone could also feature Face ID and a lower-res 6.1 inch LCD screen.
