Editor’s Notes: Barena Venezia celebrates the 50th season of its products hitting stores as it draws on "barenas," the puzzle of emerged lands and small wild islands surrounding Venice, for its SS20 collection. In particular, the people that inhabit this landscape and the uniforms and clothing they wear, which comes from traditional sailing, fishing and hunting garments, inspire the Italian brand's seasonal offerings.

Wide shorts are paired with double-breasted blazers or matching relaxed trousers. Collared shirts and washed denim sit alongside knitted polo shirts in vintage hues, bucket hats and elegant knitwear. Fabrications include fluid viscose and linen on exclusive crochet-effect textures.

Other key elements of the SS20 offerings include prints inspired by the light reflections of the Venetian waters, and the way they form patterns inside the canals and upon the palazzi walls. To maintain an air of modernity the collection also includes contemporary performance materials like coupled nylon with raw cotton drill and steel fibre fabrics.
