It’s no secret that we’re the biggest fans of Burberry’s Arthur Sneakers. The trail-style sneaker has been doing its thing for a couple of seasons now, always dressed in the best colorways available in the luxury sneakers circuit. One of the defining aspects of the Arthur Sneaker is its robust sole unit which features a mudguard stretching up into the upper of the shoe.

FW22 sees that same sole unit incorporated on a shoe that’s wholly different. Combining the trail-ready sole with a traditional leather brogue upper, Burberry has successfully spun our heads. We’re not sure if this is a sneaker or a formal shoe. Either way, we’re kind of loving it.

Over recent seasons, we’ve seen a strong move towards more formal footwear styles. As sneaker drops become more and more frequent, with the ones you actually want selling out before you can even autofill your card details, our readership has been looking to more classic leather styles instead. Loafers and derby shoes are now central rotation characters within our world, so Burberry might have just cooked up the ultimate 2022 design.

It’s definitely a divisive design. The two discordant styles create a serious contrast that is sure to upset some and excite others, but this kind of emotional response to a pair of shoes is something we’ve been missing lately. Whether you love them or hate them, the Burberry Brogue Detail Leather Sneakers are sure to provoke some sort of reaction, and that is, at its core, the point in luxury fashion, isn’t it?
