The so-called "dadcore" shoe has seen many incarnations. At the heart of the trend, the classic New Balance fast filtered into sneakerheads rotations, and was fast followed by sneakers otherwise dubbed "ugly" or, more affectionately, just "chunky".

But thanks to their supreme comfort and retro vibes very much in style right now, these functional kicks are going nowhere fast. New iterations of the large-soled, multi-layered kicks have abounded in recent times, from ‘90s reminiscent iterations by Puma to increasingly popular colorways by ASICS.

Here, we bring you our very favorite kicks to rock dadcore on the daily, proving that though the phrase may seem to have passed its shelf life, the silhouette most certainly hasn't.

Particular highlights from our selection include Puma's insane collaboration with South Korean label Ader Error on a multi-colored Cell Venom, the decidedly more understated latest release from New Balance – the 990 V5 Made in England, and Martine Rose's Nike Air Monarch 4 – still one of our favorite releases of 2019 to date.
