For Fall/Winter 2025, Italian sportswear powerhouse FILA masterfully connects the dots between sportswear and fashion in “Classics Reimagined,” a campaign produced with Highsnobiety and shot in Milan—not far from FILA’s hometown of Biella. We caught up with FILA Head of Apparel Design Katarina Jukic Pringle to dive deeper into the driving forces behind the latest collection.
Though steeped in Italian heritage, the design energy of FILA Europe is anchored in Gothenburg, Sweden. That Scandinavian vantage point shines through in the FW25 collection: with early access to trends and informed by minimalist clarity, the result is a dialogue between Milanese tradition and Nordic modernity.
"We always build the collections around the Tracksuit and the Polo,” says Jukic Pringle. “The same pieces transform depending on the context. And that’s something we see in the stories people share with us: a partner who played tennis in Forte dei Marmi in the ‘70s in the polo made famous by FILA Brand Ambassador Bjorn Borg, another who wore a FILA track jacket in the UK in the ‘80s. These diverse perspectives are all part of FILA’s character, and we wanted this collection to capture that.”
Jukic Pringle explains that one of the guiding principles for this collection was the phrase: Same tracksuit, different attitude. “Looking through the archive, we saw so many images of people wearing FILA tracksuits in their own way—it was the same pieces, but styled completely differently. That versatility was a huge inspiration.” As such, simple color palettes revolve around a handful of central colors. Rich burgundy and pastel blue offer vintage highlights to versatile, tennis-ready whites and navy blues to fill out a collection defined by its retro cuts. Relaxed tracksuits offer a clean canvas for minimal branding, recalling the brand’s extensive and well-loved archive, while meticulous knitted polos blur the boundary between tennis gear and lifestyle essentials. “A big inspiration came from the Italian way of blending sports references seamlessly into everyday life,” notes Jukic Pringle. “Sportswear of the ’70s is lifestyle-wear today, and that’s exactly what we wanted to reflect.”
Away from the more obviously sports-leaning designs is a selection of pieces perfectly in tune with the needs of modern life. Take the elegant car coat delivered in a soft brown hue or a woolen varsity jacket. “These two pieces really embody how FILA can enter an everyday wardrobe while still staying true to our DNA. For the car coat, we wanted an outer layer that felt elegant but still sporty, so giving it a technical fabric brought in that performance edge. The varsity jacket, on the other hand, we reimagined in an elegant wool, almost like we swapped the expected fabrics between the two pieces,” explains Jukic Pringle.
More than just a collection of clothing, FILA Fall/Winter 2025 acts as a statement. It speaks of a brand proud of its hard-earned heritage but at the same time aware of a culture that’s constantly evolving. While tennis remains a rich source of classic style inspiration, it also represents one of the most exciting and fastest-growing cultural communities in the world of sports. “Classics Reimagined” is for the new generation that deals in style, innovation, and authenticity.
