Some say stars are born, while others say they’re made–but for multi-disciplinary artist Temiloluwa “Temi” Coker, his trajectory is a rare occurrence catalyzed by both. Rooted in curiosity and the beautiful spontaneity of creating, Coker’s artistry is a nuanced nexus that merges mediums of photography and graphic design with the juxtaposition of color and texture to tell a deeply personal story–his story.

Raised in the cultural mecca that is Nigeria, Coker unapologetically harnesses heritage as a driving force for his work which explores the triumph and tribulations of a modern day Black creative. At first glance these striking designs draw you in through the masterful use of vibrancy. But upon closer examination you’ll discover Croker’s creations chronicle a unique experience of immigrating to the U.S., honoring African culture, and the journey of self-realization.

“There were so many things I had to go through to get here. The most important thing that I've learned along the journey is that I am made for this. The creativity that I bring to the world reminds people that Black is a beautiful canvas,” Coker explains. “My work is who I am, and it’s what I will continue to do for the rest of my life.”
