What We’re Saying: Marathon season is here and one of the fastest races on the calendar happens to be in Berlin, Highsnobiety’s global HQ. To mark the occasion, we’ve teamed up with Nike to release a special edition capsule collection celebrating the runners and the city itself.

The collection comprises two sneakers — the React Infinity Run FK 2 and the Air Zoom Pegasus 38 — and a range of apparel including tights, shorts, hoodies, and running tops. All pieces feature a deep black base and neon-colored accents on the branding and graphics.

Inspired by the Situationist concept of a "Dérive", the collection is based on the idea of traversing through a city with no end point in mind. Or, as French philosopher Guy Debord put it when first proposed the term, "In a dérive one or more persons during a certain period drop their relations, their work and leisure activities, and all their other usual motives for movement and action, and let themselves be drawn by the attractions of the terrain and the encounters they find there."

Graphics in the piece represent Berlin landmarks, including the Berlin Bear, Bauhaus-Archiv, and the Brandenburg Gate, which are completed with each location's coordinates. Elsewhere, we track our route across the collection, following our own dérive exploring the city. The final "You Are Here" graphic is referencing the common sign found on maps to identity ones location, and also serves as a nod to the importance of being "in the moment" for marathon runners.
