After 11 years, KAWS is leaving his longtime representation, Perrotin gallery, ARTnews reports. The renowned American artist will seemingly continue to be represented by Skarstedt gallery, however, which has two spaces in New York and one in London.

Perrotin, with locations in New York, Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Seoul, and Shanghai, has hosted nine solo KAWS shows since 2008. In speaking on the departure, the gallery’s founder, Emmanuel Perrotin, says, “We are very proud of the work we did with KAWS over these 11 years of our collaboration. Considering all the pressure, this collaboration has come to an end. In any case, we will be satisfied if his career continues to develop in a good way and we wish him all the very best moving forward.”

ARTnews points out that Skarstedt has shown KAWS’ work for the past year and a half. Just last year the gallery hosted a solo KAWS exhibition in New York.

Looking ahead, KAWS will be showing his first full-career exhibition in his hometown at the Brooklyn Museum in 2021.

Not NYC, not LA.
