Former Highsnobiety cover star Lucien Clarke has officially signed a deal with Louis Vuitton. The skateboarder took to Instagram earlier this week to announce the news and tease his LV pro sneaker designed in collaboration with Virgil Abloh. The shoe will come in at least two colorways — the grey you see above, and the white pair below.
In his first post, Clarke captioned, "WHERE DO I START? I DESIGNED MY PRO SHOE FOR LOUIS VUITTON. AND SHOT A SKATE ADVERT FOR THRASHER 🤯NBD... THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING," he went on to add. "MAJOR SHOUT OUT TO VIRGIL FOR FLIPPING THE MF SWITCH!"
Abloh also utilized Instagram to touch on the signing and tease the footwear. "just signed Jamaica’s own @lucienclarke to 𝓛𝓸𝓾𝓲𝓼 𝓥𝓾𝓲𝓽𝓽𝓸𝓷 as the first skater deal of this type," he said. "gave him free reign to design his pro model. been filming clips for a year now."
As mentioned in both posts, Clarke partnered with Thrasher for a full advertisement in which he is seen wearing the Louis Vuitton shoe. You can look forward to a coinciding video ad dropping at the end of the year.
Clarke's pro model will be the first skate shoe in Louis Vuitton's 166-year history. The sneaker appears to feature a layered suede and mesh upper, with the skater's full name on the lateral side. LV branding is applied to the tongue, while three monogram hits appear on the midsole towards the heel.
Last year Clarke teased an upcoming project with Virgil Abloh in an interview with Highsnobiety. “I’d like to think skateboarding and fashion is one entity," he said. "I’ve never seen it as separate worlds."
It remains to be seen when Clarke's Louis Vuitton pro model will release, but as always, keep it locked here for more.
