MCM and Highsnobiety have teamed up for a Berlin-exclusive release of the German luxury streetwear and fashion label's new Himmel sneaker.

Dropping in very Berlin-appropriate colorway in Optical White with accents of neon volt playing across the upper, the exclusive colorway will be available at MCM's new creative concept space, 1976 BERLIN, and online at MCM.

Falling as part of the SS19 'Luft' collection (German for 'air'), the Himmel (which is German for 'sky') is inspired by the curvature of clouds and references archival designs from the Teutonic house, such as MCM's iconic Laurel motif.

From a material perspective, fabrics are lightweight and supple to balance out the boldness of the silhouette. A lightweight sole designed to hug the foot underscores an upper crafted from nappa and suede, and the more breathable perforated calf leather and mesh lining. The Himmel also appears in low and high top models applied across a range of 10 unique colorways — all available in MCM’s signature Visetos and suede-only material combos.

The silhouette signals both MCM's German routes and its new era of experimentation and expression headed by former adidas creative head, now MCM's global creative officer, Dirk Schönberger (you can read our exclusive interview with him at the Berlin concept store here).
