New Balance’s Painfully Suave New Dad Shoe Is Too Good to Sleep On
In terms of tradition, it doesn't get more classic than New Balance's signature gray. Whether it be on a signature 990 series sneaker or a newcomer, that classic gray just hits every time.
In that sense, the NB MT410AG5 shoe exists as the lighter, shinier younger sister of New Balance's line-up of grayed-out 990 sneakers.
Both sneakers are most famous for sporting NB's signature gray upper, but where the 990 is the dad shoe to son all dad shoes, the MT410AG5 sneaker takes up space in a slightly different way.
While both sneakers were designed to be serious runners, the 990 is now a bonafide lifestyle shoe largely regarded as the benchmark for NB's overall dad shoe steez. Since the MT410AG5 is a newer model, it hasn't yet made the same transition to lifestyle staple. But that's ok. The day is young, and so is this shoe.
Evidence of the MT410AG5's sporty nature is present in the sneaker's lightweight mesh upper and NB’s AT Tread outsole, which features a mix of running and trail lugs for on-and off-road coverage.
While the gray upper embraces New Balance's signature colorway and geriatric heritage, silver accents liven things up at the toe and midfoot, setting the elderly sneaker apart from its paternal counterparts.
Available on the New Balance website for $75, the MT410AG5 also comes in a white-and-black colorway that follows the sneaker's fatherly color palette.
