What We’re Saying: The Nike Air Max Furyosa is the latest new-age Nike Air Max sneaker that takes design inspiration from an iconic archival model. This time, the Nike Air Max 90 informs the shape and lines of the Furyosa, however, the modern-day version turns everything up a notch — most notably the double-stacked, offset Air pockets in the heel.

The double Air gives the sneaker a beastly, Frankenstein look as if several sneakers had been mashed into one. It’s a little like the concept sneakers we see on Instagram, where a HOKA sole unit is merged with a Balenciaga Track upper or similar.

The Nike Air Max Furyosa is definitely a look, we’re just wondering if it might be a look too many. There’s no doubt that the double-stacked Nike Air will be comfortable — it has, after all, been used on sneakers in the past — but the seemingly pointless laces that run around the shoe and the otherwise busy upper make for a very exaggerated design.

Take a look at the sneaker above and let us know your thoughts. The Nike Air Max Furyosa drops on June 8 for $160.
