Just when you thought the Air Rift couldn't get weirder, the two-toed Nike model suddenly grew hair.

No seriously. The sportswear brand has covered the Air Rift's uppers with lustrous pony hair. Now, it's really not beating the wearable hooves allegations.

Of course, the signature strap, Air-cushioned soles, and split tabi-style toe box remain intact. It's just hairier than usual elsewhere.

Nike has dropped Lorax-coded Air Forces and even furry Air Max Goadome boots, so it's not exactly new territory for the brand. But honestly, putting fur on a sneaker, especially a model as unconventional as the Air Rift, will always feel unexpected.

Then again, this isn't exactly new for the Air Rift, either. It's really a call-back to the model's previous run, which also included luxe fur renditions (plus leather for a full-coverage look). You can still find some of these older pairs on sites like Grailed.

As we speak, the brown and black options are now up for grabs on Footdistrict's website for 130€, which is around $151 at current exchange rates. The bold blue pairs are scheduled to drop at stores around August 31.
