Noah Lyles won the men’s 100m gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, in spectacular fashion. And, I am not just talking about the historic photo finish.

Crossing the finish line, the fastest man in the world sported an OMEGA Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon "Apollo 8" on his wrist. The watch comes in a black ceramic case (a material I am absolutely obsessed with).

Black ceramic is a somewhat rare material in the watch world but has the same sartorial effect as a perfect Prada black t-shirt or all-black 1906A New Balance sneakers. If black is your preferred uniform year-round, a black ceramic Speedmaster is not out of the question.

The Dark Side of the Moon was a watch created to celebrate the Speedmaster's historic appearance on the Apollo 8 mission.

The Speedy chronograph has a skeletonized black dial moon-like dial, that gives you a birds-eye view of the light side of the moon while the case back showcases the dark side of the moon.

The entire watch sits on one of OMEGA's comfy perforated black rubber straps with yellow detailing and the case back engravings “APOLLO 8, DEC 1968”, “DARK SIDE OF THE MOON”, “WE’LL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE” (which is epic considering the context in which this was worn), and "CO-AXIAL MASTER CHRONOMETER".

OMEGA's Dark Side of the Moon "Apollo 8" is one of the watchmaker's most coveted watches in the Speedmaster line, dare I say, the true Moon watch grail for those of you collecting MoonSwatches out there.

My bet is that this watch is going to continue to be a modern heirloom, especially after Noah Lyles won gold, posting a 9.79 second time (.005 seconds faster than the silver medalist) while wearing the watch.

Before the incoming price hikes, you can cop the Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon "Apollo 8" for $10,700 at OMEGA.
