Offspring's Beautifully Chunky Sneaker Has Raf Simons Energy
When Raf Simons and adidas collaborated years ago, we were blessed with one of the greatest sneaker collaborations in history, which included the pair's chunky Ozweego dad shoes that were everywhere in the 2010s. Mine are currently chilling on my sneaker display (I just couldn't let them go...they're sneaker history!).
As if we could ever forget the cultural impact of Raf Simons' beefy — and sometimes polished — adidas steppers, Offspring is here to stylishly remind us of the designer team-up with its own adidas shoe. Offspring's adidas sneaker is even nicknamed the "RS OZWEEGO" after the iconic collaboration (it also goes by "OFFS-weego"...clever).
In addition to Ozweego, Offspring's adidas sneaker also pulls inspiration from the Response CL, another chunky runner-esque style. Bad Bunny literally dripped out the model before.
For Offspring's collaboration, the textural, layered upper echoes the Response's build, while the thick sole and tooling mirror the all-too-familiar Raf Simons Ozweego.
Atop the delicious suede and mesh uppers, Offspring dresses its shoes in equally tasteful creamy white, dusty brown, and sea green hues inspired by the £1 note.
With a shoe this impressive and easy on the eyes, it's no wonder Offspring's effort won adidas' 2023 Consortium Cup, the sportswear giant's sneaker design competition. Now, Offspring is sharing its stunning trophy with the world.
Offspring's adidas Ozweego sneaker will finally drop on August 3 on the label's website for $180.
We may not be getting any more Raf Simons Ozweegos. But Offspring's winning spin, which takes direct inspiration from the classic design, may be the next best thing.
