Last week, hundreds of individuals queued for hours outside select concept stores in New York, London, Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, and Helsinki. They all hoped to get their hands on an exciting new smartphone that's got the world abuzz.

The OnePlus 5 has received a lot of hype, and not undeservingly. Rumors around it speculated some fine features, and the early drops confirmed a great deal of that speculation to be true. Those lucky enough to purchase from one of the limited releases discovered a nifty dual camera on the back, up to a jaw-dropping 8GB of RAM, and a sleek design. All that for an incredibly reasonable price.

Another astonishing feature is the remarkable charge time aided by Dash Charge. The smartphone goes from 0-100 real, real quick, just half an hour for up to 60% and even using the phone while charging doesn’t impact the charge time drastically.

Celebrated Parisian retail space, colette, was one of the locations at which the OnePlus 5 dropped. It was the biggest pop-up the store has hosted with more than 500 people waiting in line on Paris' hottest day of the year so far with temperatures reaching over 98 degrees Fahrenheit. We spoke to some of the dedicated customers as they eagerly waited beside the store on rue Saint-Honoré and found people were most excited about the prospect of the killer camera and super-fast processor, so much so that, despite the temperature, they’d been queuing since the night before.

The man third in line told us he’s been using OnePlus phones for a few years and that he had the original OnePlus One, “I still have it, it’s still working perfectly.” He upgraded to the 3 last year but is more than ready for its successor, “since I knew they were going to release a new one I started checking on it all the time until the day finally arrived, and now we’re here waiting for it,” he explained. "It seems to be a really great phone, we’re really excited about the dual-camera and the new processor.”

"I heard about the new OnePlus a week ago," a woman who'd been waiting for over an hour told us. "I've been looking up the comments since and it's probably one of the best phones around at the moment for the quality and the price." While another man, who also liked the quality and price, explained, "I know the brand from the first one, I already was in love. I've tried to keep up and own every OnePlus that comes out."

With numbers so limited, not everyone could leave with the treasured device, but no one left disappointed. OnePlus made sure everyone was treated to drinks and a memorable event experience.

If you didn't manage to get one early, the OnePlus 5 is now available for general release. Find out more via the link below.
