Hot on the heels of its exclusive 3T Midnight Black collaboration with esteemed Parisian retailer colette, OnePlus is gearing up for the release of its highly anticipated OnePlus 5. And we got the deets.

After much building of hype, the OnePlus 5 will drop through a series of exclusive pop-up events around the world on June 20 following the keynote release presentation. These events will be the first time that the OnePlus 5 will be on sale anywhere in the world.

On the same day as the keynote, the first place to open its doors will be the special New York launch event at Magnum in Manhattan's meatpacking district on June 20 at 7 p.m. The following day, on June 21, some of Europe's cutting edge fashion and design stores, including Paris' colette from 11 a.m., Berlin's LNFA from 6 p.m., Amsterdam's Daily Paper at 6 p.m., and London's Modern Society at 5 p.m. will each host their own exclusive pop-up parties where you can get your hands on the new phone. Soundtracks will be provided by local DJs and beverages will be on hand to keep the summer evening refreshingly cool. OnePlus has also partnered with the tech store 3 for its launch party in Copenhagen (from 4 p.m.) and Finnish tech house Elisa to release the new phone in Helsinki, Oulo, Tampere and Turku (all from 5 p.m.).*

Regarded as one of the biggest slept-on smartphone makers today, OnePlus built its brand on invite-only releases with products that combined best-in-class tech with high-end design at flagrantly competitive prices. Debuting late last year, OnePlus’s latest model, the 3T cheerily undercut the usual smartphone suspects’ leading devices.

For its latest model, OnePlus skipped a number and went straight to the 5. It has been gaining an extra layer of hype thanks to the brand's community-centric approach which has influenced the brand's product and software development. As for the device itself, it's rumored to feature the top-of-the-range Snapdragon 835 processor (as seen in the Galaxy S8), while OnePlus' partnership with DxO has apparently produced a super sharp dual-camera system. It's also said to charge lightning fast but, question is, will it have an audio jack?
